I need to start out by writing that I remember going here about a year ago and thinking this spot was pretty good. I figured when I moved out of San Diego and here to St. Pete, there wouldn’t be any sour breweries. This place was a welcomed surprise! I love a good sour beer and I was excited we had a brewery that focused on it.
Ok, preface out of the way. I’ll start from the real beginning.
When my wife and I got to Overflow, nobody was inside, not even a beertender. Which is fine, I wasn’t upset, it just isn’t a good look when literally the whole brewery is empty of anyone, even employees.
When someone came inside, they apologized, and we got a flight of six tasters.
I remember being excited because I did really like this place last time. I remember them having a good flagship sour (although I couldn’t remember the name), and I was excited to see if it would be as good as I remembered.
This time, something was different. About a quarter of the way through, I wasn’t sure how I was going to finish any of the beer that was on the taster. I’m someone who likes to finish beer, especially beer I paid for, but I left multiple nearly full pours behind. On our way to the car, my stomach felt like it was going to turn, like I ate too much candy. It was maybe the worst overall beer I’ve had in St. Pete (in terms of the entire flight).
Something that I do really like is the art on the walls is all for sale. I like a place that supports local art!
Would I go back? No. I’m not exaggerating when I say I almost vomited when I left.
